About Maggie Hennessy, LPC-A

Hi there, I’m Maggie — and I’m really glad you’re here!

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate serving individuals all across South Carolina, offering both in-person and virtual therapy. My heart is in helping people who feel like they’ve been carrying too much for too long — whether that’s due to chronic illness, anxiety, stress, big life transitions, self-esteem or just feeling stuck and unsure where to turn next.

My background is rooted in psychology (B.S.) and Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.Ed. and Ed.S. from Clemson University), but what really shapes the way I show up as a therapist is my own lived experience. I’ve dealt with chronic illness for more than half my life, so I understand firsthand how it can impact your energy, your career, your relationships, your confidence — your whole world, really. I want to clarify that no one’s illness is comparable to another. Just because I’ve faced my own health struggles doesn’t mean I’ll relate to yours exactly. But, what it has given me is a deep sense of empathy, and a strong desire to offer the support I wish I had during my own journey. I won’t ever ask you to “just push through” or pretend everything’s fine when it’s not.

I believe therapy should feel like a soft landing — a place where you don’t have to explain your pain or prove that it’s real. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and focused on helping you feel more in control of your life, even if your circumstances haven’t changed. Whether you're navigating major life shifts, managing day-to-day anxiety, or working on rebuilding self-trust and confidence, I’m here to walk with you through it.

If you're ready to take the next step — or even if you're just curious about what therapy might look like — reach out. I’d love to connect and see if we’d be a good fit.
